TED Functionality for the Students of “Translator in the Field of Professional Communication” Program in Non-Linguistic Universities

The paper deals with TED Talks digital video conferences as a modern digital resource to improve foreign language listening skills among students of “Translator in the field of professional communication” program. Active and systematic use of TED in non-linguistic universities should contribute to “aimed learning” of the “Foreign Language” discipline. It also helps students and trainees overcome two tangible difficulties in the process of learning a foreign language, namely the “language barrier” and the “culture shock”.Статья посвящена анализу функциональных возможностей цифровых видеоконференций TED Talks как современного цифрового ресурса для совершенствования навыка иноязычного аудирования у студентов-слушателей программы «Переводчик в сфере профессиональной коммуникации». Внедрение и активное систематическое использование жанра TED в неязыковых вузах должно способствовать осуществлению «процесса целевого познания» в рамках дисциплины «Иностранный язык» и помогать студентам-слушателям преодолеть две ощутимые сложности в процессе изучения иностранного языка – «языковой барьер» и «культурный шок»
